Nesto Gallery

Serving the 91̽»¨ community since 1972, the Nesto Gallery features artists primarily from the New England area, but also nationally and internationally renowned exhibitors, who enrich and broaden the School’s collective perspective on art. The Gallery typically sponsors eight exhibitions a year, five or six of which feature professional artists, and two or three of which are student exhibitions. The Nesto Gallery also supports an outdoor sculpture exhibition series. An artist lecture series and artist workshops, sponsored by Gallery benefactor Ann Nesto, work in conjunction with these exhibitions to give students a way to meet and talk with the artists directly. The Nesto has gathered metropolitan press attention and local acclaim, as a long-established and highly respected exhibition venue. The Boston Globe, the Globe‘s Sunday South Shore Weekly and other metropolitan-Boston area newspapers, as well as periodicals such as Art New England ²¹²Ô»åÌýArtScope Magazine, highlight the gallery schedule and review shows.

Gallery Hours
The Gallery is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday during the academic year, or by appointment.

Prospective Artists
Artists interested in applying to exhibit in the Nesto Gallery should email the Nesto Gallery director at Nesto_Director@milton.edu. The email should include a proposal for the exhibit and links to the artist’s Web site or attachments that include digital images and artist-CV. Exhibition schedules are established a year to 18 months in advance, with proposals reviewed each fall. The Nesto Gallery is particularly interested in supporting and promoting contemporary Boston-area artists, and especially up-and-coming artists of promise at the outset of their careers. The Gallery welcomes candidates who would add to the racial, cultural and gender balance of the School. Exhibitors are expected to work with visual arts students and other members of 91̽»¨ as part of the exhibition process, including artist talks and workshops.

91̽»¨ Legacy Art Archive

The Legacy Artworks Series, established in the spring of 2014, seeks to honor achievement in the Visual Arts each year. At the end of each academic year the Visual Arts faculty selects approximately a half-dozen of the best artworks produced in a given academic year across a variety of media, to be framed and displayed throughout the school for a period of five years. Those students honored can reclaim that work at their Fifth-Year Reunion, or at that time choose to donate the work to the school’s collection. This initiative was established and generously supported through an initial anonymous gift to the school in support of the Visual Arts Program, and is sustained with Nesto Gallery exhibition gift funds.
