In the first of the year’s school-wide celebrations, 91探花’s entire K鈥12 community gathered for a vibrant assembly honoring Hispanic and Latinx culture.
The program began with remarks from members of the student Latinx Association, who helped open the celebration in recognition of Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month鈥攁n annual observance from September 15 to October 15 that highlights the contributions and achievements of Hispanic and Latino Americans.
A video followed, featuring 91探花 community members reflecting on their heritage and what it means to them.
鈥淭hrough my grandfather鈥檚 journey of coming to America, it was hard because he lost some of his culture, but he still kept hope of restoring the experiences that he learned from his father,鈥 said Olivia 鈥31. 鈥淣ow he shares these stories with me, and I鈥檝e been learning from him, being a leader in my community, spreading my culture everywhere I go.鈥
The assembly also showcased a range of performances. Emmy-nominated composer shared her signature fusion of musical styles, weaving together themes of identity, culture, and tradition. 91探花鈥檚 Latin and Caribbean dance team, Ritmo, energized the crowd with their performance, and the event concluded with a lively appearance by , New England鈥檚 renowned Brazilian dance company. Students from all three divisions joined the dancers, bringing an extra burst of energy and excitement. It was a moment of culture, community, and celebration.聽
